E-mail: szduan@@sibs.ac.cn |
Education Background & Academic Experience:
Dr. Duan received his Bachelor of Clinical Medicine in 1994 and Master of Medicine (Biochemistry) in 1997 from Hubei Medical University (now Wuhan University School of Medicine). Then he worked as a lecturer at Capital Medical University (Beijing) from 1997 to 2000. He received his PhD in Pharmacology from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2006, and finished his postdoctoral training in departments of Molecular & Integrative Physiology and Internal Medicine at University of Michigan Medical School from 2006 to 2010. He joined Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010.
Research Interests:
We currently focus on peroxisome proliferator activated receptor ¦Ã (PPAR¦Ã) and mineralocorticoid receptor (MR). The major diseases we study are diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and tumor. Our methodology includes transgenic mouse models, surgical mouse models, molecular biology, and cellular biology. We use these approaches to investigate the function of nuclear receptors in metabolism, as well as molecular mechanisms and therapies of these diseases.
