Education Background & Academic Experience:
Dr. Huiyong Yin graduated from Tongji University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1992. In 1995 he received his M.S. degree from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). After receiving his Ph.D. in the Department of Chemistry at Vanderbilt University in 2002, he joined the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt School of Medicine as a research instructor and was promoted to research assistant professor in 2005 and research associate professor in 2009 in the Departments of Medicine, Pharmacology and Chemistry. He was the director of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) analysis for the Vanderbilt Program of Drug Discovery from 2007 to 2009. He has published around 70 peer-reviewed papers and was the PI and Co-investigator on multiple NIH grants including RO1 and PO1. He was the recipient of President’s Graduate Award of CAS (1995), Warren Graduate Fellowship Award in the Department of Chemistry at Vanderbilt University (2000), Travel Award (2004) and Young Investigator Award (2005) from The Society of Free Radical Biology and Medicine, Best Research Paper Award in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University (2004). In 2010 Dr. Yin joined the faculty of Institute for Nutritional Science, Shanghai Institute of Biological Sciences, CAS.

Research Interests:
The major research interests in our laboratory are (1) to apply tools of chemistry, molecular/cell biology, and animal models to study free radical mechanism of lipid oxidation and its role in human nutrition and diseases; (2) to develop mass spectrometry techniques including lipidomics, metabolomics, and proteomics to study lipid metabolism; (3) to explore nutritional intervention to prevent some nutrition-related human diseases.
