The Institute for Nutritional Sciences (INS) was founded on December 15, 2003 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. To serve the national interest in health, the institute challenges the frontiers of nutrition-related diseases and food safety through multidisciplinary biomedical researches at molecular, cellular, animal, and human population levels. The integrated efforts are focused on prevention and intervention, educational programs targeted on both professionals and the public by closely collaborating with institutions and industries in China, USA and other countries.

The institute currently has 21 laboratories in areas of diabetes, tumor, mental and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as food safety. We are recruiting new laboratory heads, with a goal of reaching a steady-state of 30 laboratories. Each laboratory consists of up to five staff members and a variable number of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
